About Me
Rachel Fung - Coach Practitioner
I'm a Malaysian-born coach based out of Melbourne (Naarm), Australia, dedicated to serving clients locally and globally via video call, or in-person.
WORKING WITH YOU
I support people through complex life change by providing personalised coaching tailored to individual needs. This process helps individuals develop the skills and mindset needed to thrive authentically in alignment with their values, relational priorities, and ways of being.
METHODOLOGY, BACKGROUND AND VALUES
My clients and I navigate their journey using established frameworks like the GROW model and the Gestalt cycle of experience. Informed by applied positive psychology and the Gestalt pillars of field theory, phenomenology, dialogue, and experimentation, my practice is grounded in holistic, evidence-based methods.
My journey began with postgraduate training at Gestalt Therapy Australia (Foundation Studies Relational Gestalt Counselling) complemented by current study at the Australian College of Applied Professions (Graduate Certificate of Applied Coaching). These experiences equipped me with the tools to adapt my coaching methodology effectively to serve a diverse client base.
My ADHD Story
Like many, I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult in mid-life. The diagnosis came with many complicated and contradictory emotions, which skill in psychotherapy and coaching helped to navigate. My training in both was established prior to diagnosis, which, fortunately, enabled me to create a framework to explore neurodivergence in a compassionate, strengths-based, and non-pathologizing way.
I am an introvert who, personally, holds labels lightly. However, it may be helpful to know I am a queer, neurodiverse woman (she/her), experienced in navigating a interculturally and relationally rich life between East and West; this is the lens by which I practice.
My top five Values In Action strengths are Wisdom (Judgment and Love of Learning), Humanity (Social Intelligence), Justice (Leadership), and Transcendence (Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence). A cause I care deeply about is homelessness and its impact on pets and domestic animals.
At the heart of my coaching lies a belief encapsulated by the phrase, 'Plus est en vous', meaning 'More within'. This ethos is the cornerstone for fostering resilience, curiosity, and thriving in a complex and ever-evolving world.
In working with clients, I hold a co-creative, explorative space characterised by compassion, non-judgment, and psychological safety. We delve into challenges together, leveraging insights to foster growth, connection and actionable paths forward.
